When we took Maddie to her first visit with the pediatrician, we were a little concerned that she'd not regained her birth weight. But, it turns out we had no need to be worried. A week later she weighed in 17 ounces heavier. A normal gain would have been 4 oz. And she's been a little overachiever ever since.

She gave us our first smiles at 5 weeks, delighting us with her open-mouthed grin. She also started making delightful cooing noises. She often sings as she eats. Apparently she likes her food.

The cats have been a bit concerned about our addition, rightfully feeling their place has been usurped. Piper has made do, claiming his place as he can. Quark is still trying to figure it out.
